La Limonaia

Italian private rentals - This traditionally furnished holiday rental home lies in a tiny village in northwest Tuscany. In the heart of the country, it gives easy access to Lucca, Pisa, the Versilian beaches, and the nature reserves and winter sports of the Apuan Alps. Combining countryside, seaside, mediaeval city and trips into the mountains - this could be the complete Italian vacation.

La Limonaia is in a little village near Camaiore called Pieve, with the house lying along a little paved street. The house is carefully furnished with rustic furniture and antique pieces. La Limonaia lies 2km from the centre of Camaiore, 13km from the beach, and in the heart of the country. There is parking for guests, and a general store within 100 metres. The bus stop is 300 metres away, and the nearest railway station is at Viareggio 15km away. There is tennis 10km away, a golf course 13km, and riding stables 14km.

The private rental home covers 100 square metres over three floors. On the ground floor there is an entrance hall, a living room with single sofa bed, an open fireplace and TV. There is a dining room and kitchen with washing machine. On the upper floor lies a double bedroom, and a bathroom with shower, bidet and WC. On the top floor lies a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, including bath, bidet and WC. There is a baby's cot provided. Outside you'll find a pleasant terrace (complete with garden furniture) and a garden with barbecue. Heating is to be paid during your stay, depending on usage.

The owner resides desultorily in a small dépandance at the back of garden.

La località

Camaiore itself is a popular holiday destination of around 30,000 inhabitants, 9km from the sea at Lido di Camaiore, and sitting at the foot of the Apuan Alps, among Apuan Alps and the coast, in the centre of Versilia. Historic centre is surrounded by walls and inside there are many artisan shop. In the summer many traditional markets attract craftsmen and traders from all Italy. There is the possibility to visit the numerous medieval remains and to make an excursion to see the ancient romanesque church of XII century.

These mountains run behind the Versilian coast, spanning 40kms, and are now a protected regional park. Traversed by well-marked footpaths, these provide a marvellous escape into nature for keen and amateur walkers alike. There is a marvellous diversity of wild flowers, chestnut and beech woods, and 300 species of wild bird including the golden eagle.

The Versilian Riviera is a huge draw for Italians and visitors alike, and Viareggio is Tuscany's major seaside resort, with an elegant palm-fringed avenue running the length of the promenade. A collection of Liberty style facades, designed by the leader of Italian art nouveau, Galileo Chini, line this avenue.

And 25km away lies the marvellous mediaeval city of Lucca. This most graceful of the Tuscan provincial capitals sits within a complete ring of fifteenth century walls. Around these lie peaceful grassed gardens; within lies a delightful labyrinth of a town, with its mediaeval buildings still holding to the Roman street plan laid out two millennia ago.
